Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Music Label Group ("MLG", "we", "us" or "our") collects when you use LISTN AI, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It covers the LISTN AI website, the app you can install from it, Videos, the creator dashboard and our delivery services for distributors (together, the "Service"). MLG is responsible for your personal information as the "controller".
We do not sell your personal information. Free accounts hear and see ads, but we choose them by what you are listening to, not by a profile of you, and advertisers never receive your personal information.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address and password (which we store only in a scrambled, hashed form), and anything you choose to add to your profile, such as a display name, photo, location, biography and favorite genres, and, only if you choose to give them, your gender and age range.
- What you post: comments, likes, and the AI artists and podcasts you follow.
- Messages: what you send us when you contact us, start a creator account, or report a rights problem, including your name, email address, company and the details of your report.
- Creator information: if you publish on LISTN AI, your creator name, what you make, website, country, a description of your work and the AI tools you use, and how you want to be paid, including your PayPal address or bank details (which we store encrypted). We may also ask for tax information, such as a tax identification number, where the law requires it.
- Your Content: the recordings, artwork, text and details creators and distributors upload or deliver, including the AI tools named and the names and credits of the people and AI voices involved.
Information created when you use the Service
- Plays: when something plays for at least 30 seconds, we record the item, whether it was a preview or a stream, whether you were on Premium, the type of device, operating system and browser, and the country. We never store your IP address with a play. If you are signed in, the play is linked to your account so that charts, your history and the creators' monthly statements work.
- Where you are in episodes and chapters: so a podcast episode or an audiobook chapter carries on where you stopped, on any device.
- Ads: for free accounts, when an ad break plays, which ads were shown, whether they were played to the end, skipped or clicked, the type of device and the country. We use this to count ad breaks, limit how often you hear the same ad, and report totals to advertisers. A counter on our servers keeps track of how many items you have played since your last break.
- Premium: your plan, its status and your payments.
- Track ID: when you use Track ID, about ten seconds of sound from your microphone is sent to our song recognition provider to identify the song. We do not keep the recording. We keep what was identified, and if you are signed in, the list of your IDs so you can find them again; you can delete them in the Track ID history.
- Visits: to count visits and see how the Service is used, we record the pages you look at, how long you stay on them, the site or link that brought you, your browser, operating system and type of device, screen size, language and time zone, and your approximate location (city, region and country), which we work out from your IP address in a location database on our own servers (your IP address is not sent to anyone for this). Your browser keeps a random visitor number so that visits can be counted; it is not linked to your name. If you are signed in, visits are linked to your account, together with your gender and age range if you gave them. We keep the IP address and the details of each visit for up to 90 days, then keep only totals.
- Technical information: IP addresses, browser and device information, and request logs that our servers use to run the Service, keep it secure, prevent fraud and limit abuse.
Information from others
- Stripe, our payment processor, tells us whether a Premium payment succeeded and gives us references to your customer record and subscription. Stripe collects your card details directly. We never receive your full card number.
- Distributors deliver release information, including the names and roles of the people and AI voices involved.
- Rights owners who report a problem may give us information about a creator or a release.
2. How we use information
- To provide the Service: running your account and library, streaming, remembering where you are in episodes and chapters, Premium, and letting you post and follow.
- To show ads to free accounts: choosing an ad break when one is due, picking ads that fit what you are listening to, and counting impressions, plays to the end and clicks.
- To pay creators and distributors: adding up streams into monthly statements and making payouts.
- To build charts and recommendations from plays, likes and follows.
- To protect the Service, rights owners and users: preventing fraud, artificial streams and ad fraud, misuse of AI voices, and infringement, and handling rights complaints.
- To communicate with you: receipts, account and security messages, replies to your messages, and updates about the Service. We send news and offers only if you choose to receive them, and you can switch them off at any time in Account settings.
- To improve the Service, and to comply with the law, including tax and accounting obligations, and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on these legal bases: performing our contract with you (running your account, streaming, Premium and payouts); our legitimate interests (showing ads to fund free listening, security, fraud prevention, protecting rights owners, charts, and improving the Service), which we balance against your rights; your consent (optional marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time); and legal obligations (tax, accounting and responding to lawful requests).
3. Who can see your information
- Everyone: your public profile details, such as your display name and photo, and your comments.
- Creators: creators see how often their work is streamed, with dates, and totals of the visits to their own pages, such as the number of visits, where visitors came from, their cities and countries and their devices, and totals by gender and age range only when at least 10 people make them up. They do not see your name, email address, IP address or payment details. Distributors receive streaming reports for the music they deliver, which may include countries.
- Advertisers: only totals, such as how many times their ad was shown, played to the end or clicked, by country and type of device. They never receive your name, email address or account.
- Service providers who work for us under contracts that require them to protect your information, including hosting, cloud file storage (such as Cloudflare), email delivery, payment processing (Stripe), song recognition and AI music detection (when those checks are on) and payouts (PayPal and banks).
- People involved in a rights complaint: when you send a copyright notice or counter-notice, we may pass it, including your contact details, to the other side, as the law contemplates.
- Legal and safety: authorities, courts or others when the law requires it, or when it is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of MLG, rights owners, users or the public.
- Business changes: a buyer or successor if MLG or LISTN AI is part of a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, subject to this Privacy Policy.
4. Cookies and similar technology
We use cookies that are needed for the Service to work: to keep you signed in and to protect forms against misuse. The Service also keeps a few preferences in your browser, such as the player's queue, volume and speed and how the menu is shown, and the installable app may keep copies of pages on your device so it opens quickly. We do not use advertising cookies or outside ad networks: the ads on LISTN AI come from our own servers. We count visits with our own statistics, described in section 1, which keep a random visitor number in your browser's storage; we do not use an outside analytics service. Because we do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, we treat Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals as a request not to do so.
5. How long we keep information
- Account, profile and library information: while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, favorites, follows, listening positions and comments.
- Premium payments, payouts and tax records: for as long as tax and accounting laws require, generally up to seven years, including after an account is deleted.
- Plays: kept to calculate charts and the creators' statements. When an account is deleted, its plays are no longer linked to it.
- Ad events: kept to report to advertisers and prevent ad fraud. When an account is deleted, they are no longer linked to it.
- Rights complaints and related correspondence: for as long as needed to handle them and to keep a record of repeat infringement.
- Visit details, including IP addresses: up to 90 days. Totals without IP addresses are kept.
- Server logs and security records: for a limited time, unless needed to investigate an incident.
6. Security
We protect your information with measures such as encrypted connections, hashed passwords, encrypted storage of payout details, and access limited to people who need it. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong password that you do not use anywhere else, and tell us right away if you think your account has been compromised.
7. Your rights and choices
- You can see and change most of your information in Account settings, switch marketing emails on or off, and delete your account. Premium removes ads.
- Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy in a portable format, object to or restrict certain uses, and withdraw consent. To make a request, email info@listnmusic.com from the address on your account. We may need to verify your identity before we act, and we will respond within the time the law requires.
- US state privacy rights: residents of California and other states with consumer privacy laws have the rights above, including the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, use and disclose. The categories we collect are the ones described in section 1: identifiers, commercial information (Premium), internet and device activity, approximate location (city, region and country), gender and age range if you give them, audio content and profile information you post, professional information for creators, and financial information for payouts. We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. You may use an authorized agent to make a request, and you can appeal our decision by replying to it. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.
- EEA, UK and Swiss residents: you may also complain to your local data protection authority.
8. International transfers
MLG is based in the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States and wherever our service providers operate. Where the law requires it, we use safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland.
9. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it. Users under 18 need a parent's or guardian's permission to use the Service, as our Terms of Use explain.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed. If a change is material, we will tell you by email or on the Service before it takes effect.
